Tam N - Thursday, July 30, 2009

It doesn't matter if you are a skilled practitioner of internet marketing or simply and up coming newbie. Both of their successes are highly effected by how well you are within the bounds of SEO. You can ask any individual who has any knowledge about being successful online and they will reaffirm that SEO is what they use to bring traffic flow into their sites. They know that increased traffic to their site will lead to more sales. If you want to be successful online, you need to know as much as possible about SEO and how you can put it to use with your internet marketing.

SEO - The Science and Art of It's Use

Because SEO is used so much in every facet of online marketing, many don't realize it actually stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is a tool internet marketers utilize to specialize their site more so it will be picked up more frequently by search engines while still hitting their target markets. People who go through and fully optimize their site in conjunction with a search engine usually will see their site much higher on the results list.

For example if you have a site that sells various pieces of dinner ware, and you have optimized the site, then when someone uses a search engine to look for dinner ware or table ware they will be brought to your site. And if you have done your site optimization well, there is a good chance you will be higher ranking in eve more general terms such as "kitchen products." The results you see in the end are highly dependent on just how much SEO work was put into the site by it's owner to reach higher rankings within search engine results.

Making Sense of the Results Page

Each and every time that you put a search engine to use like Google or any of the other popular search sites, the search engine will spit back out results. This results page will show you a large list of links followed by site descriptions that the search engine believes is relevant for what you have just entered.

Look a little closer look when browsing the results page. For example if you searched for "Web directory" on a site like Google, you will get over 127 million results. This means that these 127 million web pages are related in some way to what you searched for. But usually people will not browse through 127 million different sites to find what they are looking for and simply look on the first few pages that result from the search. Because of this everyone who knows anything about marketing online knows that being on the very first page on any search is a gold mine.

The trick is figuring out how to get your site on that front page of results. Each link will be ranked by how relevant they are to the preformed search. The more relevance the search engine believes that you site has to the noted query, the higher up in the rankings your site will be. To get a higher ranking within these results takes a lot of able SEO skills.

Good SEO vs Bad SEO

There are some internet marketing newbies who believe they can fool the search engines into giving them a higher place on the results. They usually end up filling their site with all kinds of various target keywords believe it will bring people in.

It's a good thing for both people browsing the web and a bad thing for these marketing newbies, that going overboard like this can be bad for their websites. This same principle can also be applied to SEO attempts. There have been a great deal of attempts by sites to get higher in the rankings by placing many keywords into the various sections of their website trying to fool the search engines. This practice is called keyword stuffing. This often confuses visitors due to the lack of sense the site makes with it's random words. If you participate in this ridiculous act of keyword stuffing, and fill near one half of your site with this jumbled text, anyone browsing the site will be confused and flee the site.

How to Correctly Apply SEO

Understanding SEO isn't that difficult. You simply take the keywords and phrases that are relevant to your site, then bend them into your content in ways that make sense. This allows a clean site to still rank well in a search engine. But realize that it does take a lot more than just a few keywords within one or two paragraphs in your site. These search engines are not going to pick you up that simply. They have smart algorithms which will sift through sites that have been stuffed and sites that are well written. You not only need content that is relevant, you also need content that is popular.

So how would a newbie to marketing achieve this. It's all about doing the right research. You need to know the correct keywords that your target audience will query in search engines that are relevant to your website. And furthermore this also is determined by which of these leads to a sale. Look at all possible keywords and decide which ones are needed to be placed within your site to draw in your target audience. Always make sure your content is real with quality written text. Using this method and these various directory submissions can bring about links which can make your site even more relevant.

Veterans are not the only ones with rights to web traffic. Newbies can achieve this as well. Come learn how to do so.
