Our Design Process

At Oolybooly we follow a process that ensures that our clients are always aware of where they are in the process, are clear as to what is required from them and us. The process establishes milestones (important stages that require client sign off) to inform the client of the stages of website development.

Below are some detailed explanations of of the stages.

Initial meeting

We talk to you about what you want to achieve from your website and online goals in general as well as technical requirements like the software to run your website, who will update the site, where you want your emails hosted and domains names registered. Our aim is to understand what your expectations are and how much you want to spend to achieve those goals.

Requirements Analysis

In this phase we look at all your requirements and compare that to the best options we have can deliver for your budget. If you have no idea about a budget we propose the best solution to give the best out come both visually and in marketing results. So that means your website will look good and bring more customers.

Proposal / Quote

We deliver a list our recommendations and a time based quote on how long we estimate it will take us to complete the job. This is normally a fixed price meaning you do not have to worry about any cost blow outs. This quote is based on our experience and how long it takes to complete a project of similar specifications. It is important to point out here that

Client Acceptance and Deposit

The proposal is presented to the client for review and at this time the client can ask for amendments and corrections to the proposal and an adjustment to the quote can be made. Our proposals also include options that are "optional" and these can be included at this time and often has a cost advantage if selected at this stage. Once the proposal has been presented to the client and accepted a deposit is require to begin the project.

Client Design Meeting

The client design meeting is the opportunity for the client and designer to fine tune the visual design, likes and dislikes, features and pages that will be created for the site. This meeting can be left out if a pre designed layout is chosen for the site, in that case a document stating all the final features and chosen layout will be provided for final approval of the client.

Design

The designer will then take all the information provided and create a visual design based on that information. The art of design is in understanding and finding a balance between what the client wants and likes and what will appeal to the website user. A design is presented to the client and the various elements in the design are high lighted to explain why they are there.

Client Design Feedback

The design is presented to the client and can be approved at this time. If the client wishes to make changes they can so at this time. The client then has 2 opportunities to make changes to the layout. It is important to take the time required to go through the design thoroughly looking at all elements including, colour, font, imagery, layout and features. Any questions or doubts should be brought up no matter how minor. There is no cost to changes at this stage as it is an easy process to move elements around.

Design sign off

Client sign off approval before us to begin make a website out of the design. It is important to note that once the design has been sliced up and replicated using HTML (website coding) changes to the layout will either use up development time for other elements or incur additional costs.

Build pages, content, features / search engine optimisation

We start building out the website and adding functionality to the site. The content must be provided to us by the client by this time to make sure no delays in delivery. Although you may be given access to the development site keep in mind it is a project in progress. At this time research for website marketing is carried out to be implimented in the development phase.

Testing

We thoroughly test all the website, its features and functionality. That includes making sure it looks the same in on computers using modern browsers, Firefox 2+, Internet Explorer 7+, Safari 8+ and Chrome 3+. If you require the website to work in any other browsers for on devices including mobile devices then this needs to stated in the requirements stage.

Client feedback client sign off

The site is presented to the client for final feedback and approval and a check to make sure it matches the clients expectations.

Website go live

After approval the website goes live and further testing is carried out to make sure that emails, web addresses and web pages work on the live site. Once the site goes live the client has 4 weeks to notify Oolybooly of any issues that might arrive.

Link building

If the client has elected for ongoing marketing, link building, social media marketing and other search engine optimisation tasks will be carried out for the client elected time from.
